As some of you may be aware the Parish Council have been working together with Ounce’s owners, looking toward the scheduled end of their tenancy next year. New opportunities for the Ounce business have meant that renewal of their tenancy of The Dolphin have become increasingly unlikely.
This has now presented a new opportunity as Hannah and Matthew who have been managing Ounce at the Dolphin for the last year, are eager to take on the tenancy themselves to allow them to follow their own plans for the business. Whilst running the pub they have built their understanding of the business and the local community and see the potential for positive change.
A wider choice of menu, friendly meeting and drinking space, events, all form part of their vision whilst maintaining the flair and quality of the Ounce heritage. They will continue to live on site and hope to build their role as a key part of the life of the community.
The PC have reviewed their vision, business plans and finances and agreed that they present an exciting new future for “The Dolphin”. As a result, the council have agreed to support an early surrender of the Ounce enancy and transition to a new tenancy for Hannah and Matthew allowing them to advance their plans. The legal process is under way to make this happen and we hope to complete in the next few weeks
We believe that this will bring a new focus to The Dolphin renewing it’s relevance to the local community as both a destination and a local pub.
We hope that the people in the villages will agree with this change and join us in supporting Hannah and Matthew and wishing them every success and a long enjoyable life in the village.
