UPDATE - 13th Sept
Your information plus co-operation with County Councillor Boatright and our neighbouring parish Councils has helped to identify what is believed to be the source of the noxious fumes. The relevant authorities are now engaged in compiling evidence to support further action.
[Note There was some early morning smoke from near Marshall's late last week but this has been traced to a small amount of green waste burning following some landscaping work. This was not related to the Noxious Fumes reported previously]
----------------------------
We have had several reports of noxious fumes affecting the villages overnight on several occasions in recent weeks (notably late August and early this month.
Despite efforts to trace the source including late night trips around the area, their origin remains a mystery.
The smell is described as a noxious chemical smell unlike any natural rural odours, and when active seems to be experienced late night/ early hours with the wind from broadly southern direction. People describe being woken, having to close windows and making some rooms almost unusable with the lingering odour.
To date
Due to the timing there are some concerns that the activity is deliberate and being concealed.
We would appreciate any reports or any input which could throw further light on this and help us to put together a better picture.
Thank you for sending us your fumes report.
