We hope to use this section to collect and provide information which additional to the key health guidance from Government and public authorities.
Helpful thoughts, tips and guidelines are all welcome (website@batpc.org.uk) and we will try to include helpful items.
INTRODUCTION
We  are in a new situation, unprecedented in most if our memories.
People have never been asked to refrain from social contact or isolate themselves on such a scale before and the impacts on people and businesses cannot yet be accurately predicted.
However, what can be predicted is that this is a time for communities to pull together - to help each other and to try and keep each others spirits up.
Getting together is a natural human need, so if we can't meet for a drink or a meal remember:-
  • The telephone (you may have to explain to youngsters that you can use them to talk rather than text!)
  • Notes and letters (still lovely to get a letter - though remember hygiene after handling something sent from elsewhere)
  • Social Media - not just Facebook information but reaching out one to one with texting and messaging
  • Video links to families or maybe share a glass of wine linked over a video link (Skype and Zoom have free options)
If you're isolating....
  • remember Board games, jigsaws, puzzles, that book you've been meaning to read?
  • remember the Radio - not just for information but the comfort of another voice
  • there's always that drawer/ cupboard that needs sorting out
  • ..... and maybe when weather improves ... the garden.
  • Oh there's that musical instrument that we haven't touched for 10 years!
Above all don't be afraid to reach out - either as needing support or offering it!
Stay vigilant, stay positive, stay safe!

HOME DELIVERY PRECAUTIONS
Example those using home delivery services or incoming post, need to mindful of contamination in the bags and items which have been supplied.

Try if possible to use gloves.
  • Use anti bacterial wipes on the items such as tins and packets etc before putting them away with other items.
  • If not needed immediately store them in a garage or elsewhere for over 72hours to allow virus to die off.
  • Dispose of bags and wipe down any area where they lay when unloading. If this can be done away from the kitchen then all the better.
  • Post delivery hot wash or dispose of gloves and wash hands thoroughly etc.

COVID-19 RAPID TEST KITS
Some manufacturers are producing what are claimed to be Rapid Test Kits for Covid-19 and making these available to private buyers.
Government guidance is that these are not fully tested or proven to be accurate either to prove or disprove the presence of Covid 19 and should therefore not be trusted at this time.   More details here
